Description
A rich, moist, and decadent chocolate cake featuring swirls of creamy peanut butter and chunks of Reese’s cups. This one-bowl dessert offers a perfect salty-sweet balance and is surprisingly easy to make.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup creamy salted peanut butter
- 4–5 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (chopped)
- Flaky sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan, line with parchment paper, and grease the paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until uniform.
- Add eggs, vegetable oil, heavy cream, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Whisk vigorously for 2 minutes until the batter is thick and glossy.
- Gently fold in the remaining flour mixture until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in half of the chopped Reese’s cups into the batter.
- Drop spoonfuls of creamy peanut butter over the batter and swirl with a knife or offset spatula to create marble patterns.
- Scatter the remaining chopped Reese’s cups on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let cool for 10 minutes, then sprinkle with flaky sea salt before serving.
Notes
Do not overbake; the center should be slightly gooey. Use creamy salted peanut butter for the swirls to prevent sinking. Cold heavy cream helps create a lighter texture. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the fridge or freeze for up to 3 months.
