Description
A batch-friendly, refreshing cocktail combining bourbon, strong black tea, and peach syrup with a splash of lemon and fizz. Perfect for game day parties and easy to make ahead.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 to 8 ounces bourbon (e.g., Maker’s Mark or Buffalo Trace)
- 4 cups strong black tea, brewed and cooled completely
- 1.5 cups peach syrup or peach nectar
- 0.5 cup fresh lemon juice
- 0.5 to 1 cup simple syrup (optional, to taste)
- 1 to 2 cups sparkling water or ginger ale
- Ice (large cubes preferred)
- Peach slices for garnish
- Mint leaves for garnish
- Lemon wheels for garnish
Instructions
- Brew black tea using 8 tea bags for 4 cups of water. Steep for 5-7 minutes, remove bags, and let cool to room temperature.
- Chill the tea in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight until completely cold.
- If making homemade peach syrup, simmer sliced peaches, sugar, and water for 10 minutes, mash, strain, and cool. If using canned syrup or nectar, measure out 1.5 cups.
- In a large pitcher, combine the cooled black tea, bourbon, peach syrup (or nectar), and fresh lemon juice. Stir well.
- Taste the mixture. If too tart, add simple syrup gradually. If too sweet, add more lemon juice or tea.
- Right before serving, add sparkling water or ginger ale and stir gently to combine.
- Add ice to serving glasses and pour the drink over the ice.
- Garnish with peach slices, lemon wheels, and mint sprigs. Serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure the tea is completely cold before mixing to prevent ice from melting too quickly. The base mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days without ice or fizz. Add ice and sparkling water only when serving to maintain carbonation and temperature. Use large ice cubes to minimize dilution.
