Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders Perfect for Labor Day

  • Author: Emma
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

Easy, crowd-pleasing pulled pork sliders featuring a secret butter-toasted bun technique to prevent sogginess. Ready in just 20 minutes, these sliders are perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs pulled pork (pre-cooked or homemade)
  • 1.5 cups thick BBQ sauce (Kansas City-style)
  • 12 hamburger buns (brioche or potato rolls recommended)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 2 cups coleslaw mix (pre-shredded cabbage and carrot)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place pulled pork in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add BBQ sauce and yellow mustard. Stir gently until the pork is coated and warm. Adjust consistency with a splash of water or apple cider vinegar if too dry. Set aside.
  2. Slice buns in half horizontally. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Place buns cut-side down in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Spread a generous layer of the pork mixture onto each bottom bun half. Add a small handful of coleslaw on top if desired. Place top bun halves on top and press down gently.
  5. Place assembled sliders on the baking sheet, seam-side up. Bake for 5-10 minutes until pork is hot and buns are warmed through. Let rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

Toast the buns to create a waterproof barrier against the sauce. Do not skip this step to avoid soggy buns. If making your own pork, aim for an internal temperature of 195°F-205°F. Sliders can be assembled up to 4 hours in advance and refrigerated; bake just before serving. Do not freeze assembled sliders.
