Small Batch Fudgy Brownies with Salted Caramel Drizzle

  • Author: Emma
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A quick, 4-ingredient dessert recipe for dense, fudgy brownies made in just 15 minutes. Perfect for single servings or small batches, topped with a luxurious salted caramel drizzle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (85g) dark chocolate chips (semi-sweet)
  • 1/4 cup (57g) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (30g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 23 tablespoons store-bought caramel sauce
  • 1 pinch flaky sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans)
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven or toaster oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 6-ounce ramekin or small muffin tin with butter.
  2. Combine chocolate chips and butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, stir, then microwave in 15-20 second intervals until smooth and glossy.
  3. Stir sugar into the melted chocolate mixture. Add egg yolk and vanilla extract, whisking vigorously for 30 seconds until the mixture is lighter and glossy.
  4. Sprinkle flour and salt over the mixture. Gently fold in with a spatula or fork until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared dish, filling it about 3/4 full.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes. The edges should be set and slightly crispy, while the center remains soft and jiggly. A toothpick inserted should come out with moist crumbs.
  7. Let cool in the dish for 5 minutes.
  8. Warm caramel sauce in the microwave for 10 seconds. Drizzle over the brownie and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  9. Serve warm.

Notes

Do not overbake; the center should remain soft as it will set while cooling. Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best texture. For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend. For a vegan version, use dairy-free chocolate and butter, and a flax egg instead of the egg yolk.
