Description
A quick, budget-friendly, and kid-approved recipe for sticky, golden chicken wings made with pantry staples. Ready in just 25 minutes, these wings are crispy without deep frying and perfect for game day or busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken wings (party wings/drumettes and flats)
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup honey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and place a wire rack on top if available.
- Pat chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. Toss wings in a large bowl with vegetable oil and a pinch of salt.
- Arrange wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are not touching.
- Bake for 15 minutes until the skin starts to turn golden and fat renders.
- While wings bake, make the sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, melted butter, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Stir until combined and glossy.
- Remove wings from oven and flip them over.
- Pour half of the sauce over the wings and toss gently to coat. Return to oven for 5 minutes to set the glaze.
- Remove wings from oven again. Pour remaining sauce over the hot wings and toss until fully coated.
- Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
[‘Patting wings dry is crucial for crispiness; moisture causes steaming.’, ‘Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary to ensure air circulation.’, ‘Honey burns easily, so watch the wings closely during the final glazing step.’, ‘For air fryer: Cook at 400°F for 12-15 minutes, shaking halfway, then toss in sauce.’, ‘Leftovers can be reheated in the oven at 400°F for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness.’]
