Description
A fast, frozen, savory, and spicy Michelada perfect for game day. This recipe uses a blender to create a slushy, refreshing drink with a Tajin-spiced rim, ready in under 10 minutes.
Ingredients
- 12 oz (355ml) Light Lager Beer (e.g., Corona, Modelo, Bud Light)
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) Fresh Lime Juice
- 1–2 teaspoons Hot Sauce (e.g., Cholula or Tapatio)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Clam Juice (optional but recommended)
- 1 cup Ice
- Tajín Clásico Seasoning (for rimming)
- Optional: Celery Salt, Black Pepper, Cilantro sprig for garnish
Instructions
- Prep glasses: Run a lime wedge around the rim of wide-mouth glasses. Pour Tajín onto a small plate and dip the rims to coat evenly. Set aside.
- Blend base: In a blender, combine cold beer, fresh lime juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, clam juice (if using), and ice.
- Blend on low speed first to combine, then increase to high until smooth and slushy. Avoid over-blending to prevent a watery consistency.
- Taste and adjust: Check for balance of lime, heat, and salt. Add more hot sauce or salt if needed, keeping in mind that cold mutes flavors.
- Serve immediately: Pour the frozen mixture into the prepared glasses. Garnish with a lime wedge or cilantro sprig and serve right away.
Notes
For best results, freeze the beer, lime juice, and spice mixture into ice cube trays the night before to avoid dilution. Chill glasses in the freezer for 15 minutes before serving. Use fresh lime juice only; bottled juice does not provide the necessary acidity. If you don’t like clam juice, substitute with a pinch of sea salt and a splash of soy sauce.
