Description
A quick, no-cook breakfast recipe that combines rolled oats, peanut butter, banana, and chia seeds in mason jars. Perfect for busy mornings, this meal-prep friendly dish requires only 5 minutes of active prep time and delivers a creamy, satisfying start to your day.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (40g)
- 1/2 cup milk (2% dairy, almond, oat, or soy)
- 1 tbsp chia seeds (10g)
- 2 tbsp natural creamy peanut butter (32g)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup (20ml)
- 1 medium ripe banana (~118g)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (1g)
Instructions
- Wipe the rims of 4-6 clean mason jars dry to ensure lids seal properly.
- Add 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 tbsp chia seeds, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon to each jar. Shake gently to distribute.
- In a separate bowl or directly in the jar, vigorously mix 1/2 cup milk with 2 tbsp peanut butter and 1 tbsp maple syrup until smooth and pourable.
- Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients in the jar. Stir well to ensure all oats are submerged.
- Slice the banana and add slices on top, pressing them slightly into the oats.
- Screw the lid on tight and place jars in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Shake gently before eating. Serve cold straight from the jar or microwave for 60-90 seconds if preferred warm.
Notes
[‘Do not use instant or steel-cut oats; old-fashioned rolled oats provide the best texture.’, ‘Chia seeds are essential for binding and creating a pudding-like consistency; substitute with ground flaxseed or Greek yogurt if needed.’, ‘Bananas will brown due to oxidation, which is natural and does not affect taste.’, ‘Store in the fridge for up to 5 days; do not freeze as texture will become mushy.’, ‘If using chunky peanut butter, melt slightly in the microwave for 10 seconds to help it mix smoothly.’]
