Crispy Jalapeno Popper Pigs in a Blanket

  • Author: Emma
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

A comforting, bite-sized appetizer that combines creamy, spicy jalapeno cream cheese filling with mini smoked sausages, wrapped in flaky crescent dough and baked until golden. Perfect for a low-effort, high-reward self-care meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube (8 oz / 227 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 12 mini smoked sausages (approx. 1 lb / 454 g)
  • 4 oz (113 g) block cream cheese, softened
  • 2 medium fresh jalapenos, finely diced (approx. 2 tbsp)
  • 1 cup (113 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) melted butter, for brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, diced jalapenos, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough and press seams together to form a continuous sheet. Cut the sheet into 12 small squares.
  4. Place one mini sausage on each square of dough. Dollop about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture over each sausage.
  5. Roll the dough around the sausage, sealing the edges. Place the bites seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Brush the tops of the rolls generously with melted butter.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the dough is puffed and golden brown.
  8. Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes before serving to allow the cheese to set slightly.

Notes

Keep the dough cold to prevent tearing. If your kitchen is warm, chill the assembled bites for 10 minutes before baking. These freeze well unbaked; reheat in an air fryer or oven. Avoid microwaving leftovers as it makes the dough soggy. For less heat, remove seeds from jalapenos or use green chiles.
