Description
A soothing, anti-inflammatory golden milk latte made with turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper. Ready in just 5 minutes, this customizable drink is perfect for winding down in the evening.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup milk (coconut, almond, oat, or dairy)
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger (or 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (preferably Ceylon)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil or ghee (optional)
Instructions
- Measure out all spices (turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper) before starting.
- Pour milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium-low heat until steaming hot but not boiling (3-4 minutes).
- Reduce heat to low and add all spices to the hot milk.
- Whisk vigorously for 30-60 seconds until spices are fully dissolved and milk turns golden.
- Remove from heat and stir in honey/maple syrup and vanilla extract.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or spice level if needed.
- Pour into a mug and serve immediately, optionally garnished with a pinch of cinnamon.
Notes
Do not boil the milk as it can scorch and alter the flavor. Black pepper is essential to help absorb the curcumin in turmeric. For a smoother texture, whisk vigorously or use a frother. If using fresh ginger, grate it finely or strain the latte before serving.
