Description
Crispy, juicy shrimp coated in a sticky, spicy, and creamy Bang Bang sauce, made quickly in an air fryer for a healthier alternative to takeout.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs (680g) Jumbo or Extra-Large Shrimp, peeled and deveined
- ½ cup (60g) All-Purpose Flour
- 2 large Eggs, beaten
- 1 cup (60g) Panko Breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Black Pepper
- ½ tsp Garlic Powder
- ½ cup (120g) Mayonnaise (full-fat)
- 2–3 tablespoons Sriracha
- 3 tablespoons Sweet Chili Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Lime Juice
- 1 teaspoon Sugar (optional)
- Cooking oil spray
Instructions
- Thaw shrimp if frozen and pat them extremely dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Set up a dredging station with three shallow bowls: one with flour mixed with garlic powder, salt, and pepper; one with beaten eggs; and one with panko breadcrumbs.
- Coat each shrimp by dipping it in flour, then egg, then pressing it firmly into the panko breadcrumbs.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Whisk together mayonnaise, sriracha, sweet chili sauce, and lime juice in a small bowl to make the Bang Bang sauce. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil. Place coated shrimp in a single layer without overlapping.
- Lightly spray the tops of the shrimp with oil.
- Cook for 5 minutes, then flip the shrimp and spray the other side with oil.
- Cook for another 4-6 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer hot shrimp to a large bowl, pour the sauce over them, and toss gently to coat. Serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure shrimp are completely dry before breading to achieve maximum crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary. For extra crunch, double dip the shrimp in egg and panko. Serve immediately to maintain texture.
